Soul Coaching

When I first began to write about this I did not like this idea of a "purpose in life." I feel that the purpose in everyone's lives is to live our life and change other people's along the way by doing so. Trying to figure out your purpose in life seemed contradictory to today's affirmation, "Who I am is enough." The more I thought about it though, the more I realized that that is not true. It isn't like a purpose in life has to be a do all, end all. It isn't always a "I need to do this and then my life is complete" deal. That is why I am going to say this.

The purpose of my life is to live and learn.

There are still many things I want to do with my life. It isn't like I have no goals. I want to go to college, travel the world, own a restaurant, own a farm, own a home. None of those could be called a purpose in life though. Not for me at least.

Denise said that today we should try to listen for messages from the universe. I believe this is a very valuable lesson. We should always be listening. Especially if we ask the questions. That is why I was amazed when I found this poem. It seemed too coincidental. (I don't believe in coincidences anyway.)

Goddess, Are You Real?
Author Unknown

The little child whispered,
"Goddess, speak to me"
And a meadowlark sang.
But the child did not hear.
So the child yelled,
"Goddess, speak to me!"
And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the child did not listen.
The child looked around and said,
"God, let me see you."
And a star shone brightly
But the child did not notice.
And the child shouted,
"Goddess, show me a miracle!"
And a life was born
But the child did not know.
So the child cried out in despair,
"Touch me God, and let me know you are there!"
Whereupon the God reached down
And touched the child.
But the child brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.

  1. Tori, you astound me! Such a wise young woman you are!

I turned 40 this past week and the post you published today felt like words I would want to hear from an old, wrinkly woman who has lived a long life and learned many lessons.

And I loved the poem you felt as well. I believe that the lesson I'm learning is to not take any of our day's experiences for granted. We should always be ready to learn something new, alter an opinion or a course, and to know that God is with us in many ways.

Many blessings to you as you find your way.

  2. Yes, we must be alert always to the wonder around us. Things arrive to us in this life and they do not always look like we imagine they will look. I think your soul mission statement is a good place to begin. And I love the poem too. :)

  3. I so agree that our goals and our mission are not the same thing. Hopefully our goals help us accomplish our mission. You will definitely live and learn as you pursue yours :)

And thank you for sharing the beautiful poem.

  6. Wonderful post, Tori! I do think that one thing is our life mission, and another is our soul's mission in life. I'm glad we met here, you're a sweet, grounded girl.

    Kisses from Nydia.
