Medieval Faire

There was a Medieval Faire in a town near us and I got to go! Unfortunately I forgot to bring my camera so I couldn’t take any pictures while I was there. It was fun though. There was a tent where people were making Herb Charms. I bought a Charm Against Fear for myself and a Charm for Joy for a friend.
I even got a book with them called Book of Medieval Magic Herb Charms. It has a list of common herbs and what they will bring you, and a list of what herbs are in which charms. I think this is going to be a very useful little book!
In the Charm Against Fear there is Larch, Pear, Juniper, Elder, Sage, and Fennel.
In the Charm For Joy there is Pear, Allspice, Cloves, Ivy, Orange, Bay, Larkspur, Rose, Lemon, and Juniper.

Some Poetry- Emily Dickinson

I was writing a post about Astrology until I started to get a headache. Instead I am going to share a few of my favorite poems from Emily Dickinson. If you like them then maybe I can do this every week. I know Nydia does Favorite Things Thursday every week; this isn't that but I was just in the mood for poetry after reading the poem Mrs. B. put up.

"SOME keep the Sabbath going to church;
I keep it staying at home,
With a bobolink for a chorister,
And an orchard for a dome.

Some keep the Sabbath in surplice;
I just wear my wings,
And instead of tolling the bell for church,
Our little sexton sings.

God preaches,—a noted clergyman,—
And the sermon is never long;
So instead of getting to heaven at last,
I ’m going all along!"

"THE BEE is not afraid of me,
I know the butterfly;
The pretty people in the woods
Receive me cordially.

The brooks laugh louder when I come,
The breezes madder play.
Wherefore, mine eyes, thy silver mists?
Wherefore, O summer’s day?"

"A LITTLE road not made of man,
Enabled of the eye,
Accessible to thill of bee,
Or cart of butterfly.

If town it have, beyond itself,
’T is that I cannot say;
I only sigh,—no vehicle
Bears me along that way."

Emily Dickinson is one of my favorite poets. She has such a unique writing style, and some wonderful ideas. She is also a very local poet. She lived in Amherst, Massachusetts which is only about an hour away from where I live. I would love to go visit the Emily Dickinson Museum some day to learn more about her.

Soul Coaching

You have probably all read about Soul Coaching on Sacred Suzie’s blog. I looked into it and decided to join! I placed an order online and bought a used copy of Soul Coaching for about $12. That included shipping, and was still cheaper than if I had bought it at Borders! Needless to say I am now in a good mood. Buying a new book always does that to me. xP

I think this is going to be a lot of fun. Throughout November you will all get to read about what I experience while reading this book! I am pretty much computer illiterate, or I would set something up to have this separate from other blog things. Maybe I can figure out how to do that by November, who knows?

Update!

Sorry for the lack of updates! My computer did not want to connect to the internet for a few days. I got it working for a little while last night, and even then it kept crashing. It seems to be working now so I'm not going to worry about it.

I finished Brisingr while my computer was not working. It took me so long to finish. I would normally have finished it in three days. I guess I shouldn't expect to have as much free time in my senior year as I did before. I said I would review it when I finished, so here goes!

It was a good book. There were a lot of things that anyone who read the first two in the series would expect to happen. There were also a bunch of unexpected things that happened though! I am not one to give away the ending, so you do not need to worry about spoilers. There is going to be a fourth book. I thought it was a trilogy, and was hoping to know how it's going to end, but I'm not going to complain about more books! I will hold the right to complain about the books taking too long to be published though. ;)

I changed my nose ring over the weekend. It is now a small black nose stud.(Black for Halloween!) My dad keeps telling me he doesn't like the black nose ring but I didn't have an orange one to put in. It is much more comfortable than the big one I originally had to have in when I got it done. I tried to take a picture, but my sister says it just looks like a freckle.

I'm glad to be able to go on the internet again. I have a few things to catch up on!
