Books, Movies, and LIFE

On Wednesday my graduation present from my parents came in the mail. They got me a kindle! They told me what it was before they ordered it 1- to ask if I would want it or not and 2- because it would not be here in time to give me on graduation. I'm wicked happy! It is probably the coolest thing I've ever seen. I can order books right off amazon with it, and I get them in less than a minute. I can upload mp3 files on it from my computer, but I haven't tried that yet. I also haven't tried out the text to speech thing yet. I have, however, figured out that I can go online to just about any website with it.

When I got it I immediately started reading. I found out that Phantom of The Opera (the book) was free and ordered that. I like the movie better. Last night I bought Earth Power by Scott Cunningham. One of the writers at The Modern Pagan wrote about it and I decided it would be neat to read.

Meanwhile the book that I am supposed to be wrecking (even more than it already is) sits there untouched... Ever feel like you just don't have enough time to do everything? I had a friend drag Tia and I to the movies last night to see My Sister's Keeper. I really didn't want to go. I knew it was a sad movie that would make me cry. And guess what- it made me cry! The worst part was we missed the 7:00 showing (because I only had my debit card, no cash, and apparently this stupid theatre is so old they not only don't have any seats with cup holders but they don't accept debit cards!) so we walked around wasting time until the 9:00 showing.

Today I plan on actually spending time at home. When I get busy I tend to neglect things (like laundry...) and my room's a mess. A mess by my standards at least. It's probably clean compared to my sister's room!

  1. Oh I'm so jealous...but thrilled for you ... enjoy!!! I saw these on Oprah - what does that say about me - yikes. They look heavenly - I soooo want one!!! I will have to look for the Pagan book - looks interesting.
I giggled when you said "Wicked" as I taught Girl Scout camp up in Keene and picked up the term myself. It was new here in Idaho....but I still use it! Have a great weekend, Sarah

  2. I've been wondering about that kindle -- it just doesn't seem the same not to hold a book in one's hands..little miss wicked happy! LOL! I'm happy for you!

Goodness Scott Cunnigham as been around forever, well his books have -- pretty much started the third wave of Wiccanism. Haven't heard his name in a while. Solid information on earth based spiritualism. One of the best First books I read was "To Ride a Silverbroom Stick."

I'm all funned out with the wrecking thing myself. It's a glorified coloring book, nothing wrong with that, but I got bored and moved on-- such a two year old!

I really want to see "My Sister's Keeper." Thank you for not giving anything away. I know -- it's supposed to be a tear jerker, or how my gram use to call them three handkerchief movie, or one or two depending.

Enjoy your weekend -- and playing with the new toy. I got get to that movie! :)
    ((hugs))

  3. Oh, I want a Kindle! Congrats! Those things are just cool!

I want to go see My Sister's Keeper. The book made me bawl. I know the movie is supposed to have a different ending, so I'm curious to see how they handle it. I'm hoping they don't change it too much.

  4. OK, call me old school, but I sitll get the Kindle thing. Idk, I need to have the physical book in front me so I can lay down with it. That's how I like to read, can you still do that with Kindle? That book by Cunnigham is a great one, as most of his are.

  5. "Wicked" is probably my second favorite word! (my first is onomatopoeia) I say wicked all the time. I guess it's a New England thing- but I can't imagine not saying it.

I'm loving Earth Power. It's good info.

I never read the book My Sister's Keeper, I hope the movie measures up!

Yup, you can lay down and read with the kindle. That's how I always read. The text even moves if you turn your kindle- so you can always get the perfect angle!
