Happy Beltane!

Last night I stayed up late to learn how to make paper flowers. It took me an hour, but I learned how to make them! I made a bunch of them and brought them to school. I gave them to my friends and told them "Happy May Day!" The sucky part was that hardly anyone else wanted them. What's happened to people? So I have tons of leftover origami paper flowers and I don't know what to do with them. Probably decorate my room. Or maybe I'll try to give them to people when we go grocery shopping tonight.

It's been a beautiful spring day. A little damp, but the temperature is perfect. Maybe if it's warm tonight we'll have a little campfire. I hope everyone is having a great day, and that they dance along with Jamie! I'm dancing, just not willing to record myself doing it. xD

Signs of Spring: Prom Dress, Being Outside, & Tree Buds!

I finally feel like posting and have the time to do so! I've either been too busy or just not in the mood to blog the past few days.

Last Friday I went prom dress shopping. I had a great time, and trying on dresses really just improves a girls mood. My mom, aunt, cousin, and the store workers just kept throwing dresses into the room for me to try on. Who can be in a bad mood after trying on dresses for an hour? Not me. I finally decided on this dress, though. I love it! I feel like a fairy in it. ^^ And the best part is that it fits perfectly- no alterations needed!

And here's a close up of the bead work. It's beautiful.

Easter was a roaring success on Sunday. The kids loved the egg hunt! There was so much food, which is common when my family gets together. It's all about feeding everyone who walks thru the door. Holidays with my family are always wicked fun. =)

The weather has been beautiful the past few days! When I come home from school I sit outside, eat an apple, read, and get as much of my work done as I can outside. Today I did 90% of my homework on the steps. xD When I finally do come upstairs I look out my window and see this.

A budding tree. Is there anything nicer? I get to watch as, over time, the buds grow into leaves. It won't be too much longer!

Easter is Coming!

My pictures may not be good enough to sell on Etsy like -cough- some people, but I did include a bunch of pictures today. Check out Brandi's Etsy! Her pictures are amazing.

Tomorrow is Easter and it has been so much fun preparing for it. Last week I pulled out some of my stuffed animals. Two bunnies, Rainbow and Peter; and a little chicken named Plum because it has the little purple bunny ears on. Plum has these little metal things on the bottom, and when you touch them to your skin it goes "peep, peep, peep!" xD It's so cute.

We're getting a bunch of flowers! I planted these two years ago and they keep coming up. We haven't been outside to enjoy them because of rainy cold weather. I love having them around, though.

Tomorrow is going to be a lot of fun. We're going to my Aunt Jen's house. My cousin and I are going to cook hamburgers, hot dogs, chicken, steak, and a pork roast thing. All the beef products are from cows at the farm, and it is the best beef I've ever tasted. My Gram is making baked beans, my Mom is making sweet and sour meatballs, my Aunt is making potato salad, and I am making whoopie pies!

I am also planning an egg hunt for the kids. Tia and I colored the eggs tonight. There are going to be six kids there, so we made 14 eggs. They were so fun to make because we made them with each kid in mind. Each kid has 2 eggs made with their name on them. They need to find those 2 eggs and bring them back to me. When they do, they get to pick a box of candy. There are 2 extra eggs, and if they find one of them then they get to pick another box of candy.

Tomorrow I'm just going to focus on feeding a bunch of the people I care about and having fun! I've got tons of the scholarship stuff done with. I drove all over Keene today. I'm not going to worry about anything tomorrow. Also- because I just remembered and I feel like bragging a little, 3rd quarter report cards came in yesterday. YAY! I got all A's again. =)

Happy Ostara!

It's the Spring Equinox! A day for new beginnings and saying goodbye to the cold winter that kept us all inside for WAY too long. Sadly we can't be sure that means we won't get anymore snow. It's still early. But we can hope! The weather for this weekend looks good, maybe the rest of the snow will melt.

I plan to clean the house this weekend. I've been wanting to for a few weeks now, but life gets in the way. It's time to change my sheets and blankets especially. The nights are warmer now, so there's no need for the winter blankets anymore. This will be a weekend long project, because we do have other plans for today. The vet is doing a herd check at the farm that my sister and I do 4-H with, so we're planning on helping our aunt catch cows. We get to watch sonograms and who knows what else.

I'm not sure what else my weekend will bring, but it's going to be fun. Planting flowers will have to wait until the places around here start selling them. We live right across the road from a nursery, and we know the owners! Usually that means we can get some good deals. I want to do some baking tonight also, so I'll have a recipe to share soon!

End of The Week, End of My Problems?

I can only hope that the end of my week can mean the end of my problems. I feel bad because this will be my second post in a row that is me ranting about my life and stress. I don't want to drag this into my post for Ostara tomorrow, though. I've got no school tomorrow at least. I love teacher workshop days! I'm still not sure what to do tomorrow besides give in to my urge to clean the house from top to bottom. Spring is here- and I want the house neat again!

I really am thankful for the teacher workshop day tomorrow. I was saying to my sister this morning that I wouldn't want to get up tomorrow anyway. I don't know why, but my entire week has turned into this what-else-can-go-wrong kind of mess. It's not that anything major has gone wrong, just tons of little things that have added up. Including my cat getting sick once again. We have no idea why she gets sick, but it happens two or three times every year. Usually when the weather changes from cold to warm (like in the spring) or warm to cold (fall and winter). We can't figure it out. She throws up and we give her medicine for it (thank the gods for a cheap vet!), but it always comes back months later. If anyone has suggestions, I am open to them.

I want to thank everyone for your wishes last week on Wednesday! Today my parents and grandparents met with the other would-be neighbor to ask if we could buy land from them so we could have enough for our trailer. It turns out he may be willing to sell the entire piece of land to us! There is a house there, but he wouldn't charge anything for it he says because it needs too much work. If he does decide to sell it to us it will be better than I could expect. I've thought that piece of land would be perfect for us for a long time. Fingers crossed!

A three day weekend, and I have no homework! How much better can it get? Not sure. How does Spring weather sound to you? Sounds great to me! I only wish we could rely on not getting more snow so that we could start planting flowers. I'm ready to put the horrible week behind me and have a fantastic weekend!

Spring!

Today it was so warm I actually went for a walk. If I had known how much mud there was going to be I would have worn different shoes! I can't complain, though. Mud means Spring is almost here! After how cold and harsh this winter has been, I don't think anyone is going to complain about the mud.

My walk was to the store to buy milk and eggs. I am going to use the entire dozen eggs I just bought tomorrow. I'm making sugar cookies for the V-Day Dance my class is having on Saturday. What a recipe! The original recipe takes 3 sticks of butter and 6 egg yolks. I am doubling it for the dance. I forgot to buy confectioner's sugar (for home made frosting) while I was at the store, so I may have to take another walk. I'll share both the cookie recipe and the frosting recipe tomorrow.

It is Wishcasting Wednesday! Jamie asks us this week- What do you wish for yourself? I could wish for a little more self control. With all the cookies I've been making lately I'll have two new cavities by the time I go back to the dentist! Lol. But no, with V-Day coming up and all, I wish for love. Family, friends, pets, this is where I get my love from. Right now that's enough for me, just as long as it keeps on coming! <3

I was messing around with my camera and kaleidoscope yesterday and I got some awesome looking pictures. Check it out! I'm definitely going to take more.
